wish granted

Remember this post? The one about my love for these books.

That's what I got for Christmas from my momma. They were on sale, and free shipping, and I'm the luckiest girl on earth. I've already read 2 of them, and my own Girl Child is begging to read the one which bears her own name. I can't yet decide which is my favorite.

It made me think of the movies that have been made of these classic stories, the old versions and the new (clueless doesn't really count though- since it was set modernly and the story irreparably altered, and really step siblings- that's just yucky). I realized that I can't help but have the quality of the movie hold some bearing on which is my favorite story. Sad I know. But Even when I've read them all I still don't know if I could choose a favorite- can there be an 8 way tie?

eerily similar

I love Christmas movies, hot cocoa, blankets, reciting the lines as they're said- the tradition of it all. This year I noticed something- some of the characters look like real people, or do the real people look like the characters? Seriously it's a little eerie. Judge for yourself.

a few of my favorite things: summer edition

The hum of an air conditioner on a hot summer day, popsicles dripping down a grinning face, strawberries right off of the plant, peaches and cream over gingerbread cake, grilling every night, riding bikes until bed time, going to bed with the sun, digging in the garden, eating fresh produce right out of the garden, no school, watermelon at breakfast lunch and dinner, sidewalk chalk art, late night giggles, flashlights, campfires and s'mores, camping in the back yard, warm rain, strolls in the evening, watching the stars come out and making our own constellations, Bear dog chasing the go kart, fish tacos, eating dinner on the lawn

Springy days are here again

Today was a really good spring day- the kind where you cook your food outside and then eat it outside too, where you play and play until you fall into bed happily exhausted- day.

This morning at the end of the walk I smelled the most delicious food sizzling away, it was nearing noon so I guess burgers were legit. Shoot anything that smells that good is legit. It inspired tonight's polish hot dog and roasty green bean dinner, eaten on the front porch of course.

Life doesn't get simpler than this, or better for that matter. Good food, good weather, longer days filled with everything- all those things that hibernate for the winter. The go cart made it's spring debut, sporting a new and properly inflated tire with its wardrobe. The garden is begging to be worked on, prepped for pretty flowers and mulch and other such garden-y things. and the great thing is that I'm itching to do them. I love the feel of my bare hands in the soil, very soul soothing and such. It's time for a trip to the nursery.

spying, my missed calling?

Have you heard the new One Republic album? It is so *fweaking awesome, it's called Waking Up, by the way. I can't even pick a favorite song yet, but right now 'Everybody Loves Me' is On and I'm so diggin it, even the dog is rockin out.

I'm sorry to report that I am not following American Idol, many are disappointed to hear this as I am prone to moo-ing them (**moo=mock others often) and my satirical remarks are appreciated by all in the vicinity, I'm sure. I just can't bring myself to be so embarrassed for them, which is accompanied by an hour long full body shiver. it's rather fatiguing you know. The bachelor, on the other hand is a perfect forum for my moo-ing, the drama, the facial expressions, the tears-ha! it also helps me get all of my mocking out of my system before I venture out among the general public. it's a good thing too as I would like to keep my face intact, and people generally do not take well to being mocked.

On an unrelated, and surprisingly non mocking note, Chuck is back on and I couldn't be happier. Love that cute little nerd. My other favorite show that can't be back soon enough- Burn Notice, apparently I secretly want to be a spy or some such undercover agent. who knew?

*thanks Max for the word of the day
**Shout out to Clark, with whom I realte in the moo-ing department
